Please COPY/PASTE and send to your elected officials.
You can look at any news source to see children hospitalized with RSV, COVID, and flu. Hospitals are full, and schools across the country are struggling with higher than average rates of absence.
COVID mortality is ranked #1 in deaths caused by infectious or respiratory diseases in children. There are long-term consequences as well. Conservative estimates show children infected with COVID get long COVID 5-10%. Research indicates that long COVID is associated with micro blood clots that reduce oxygen flow to major organs, resulting in fatigue and organ damage, and raise the risk of stroke and cardiac arrest.
This could damage the health of our future workforce, and doctor appointments can create issues for parent's employment.
Approximately 79% of the 73 million children in the United States have been infected according to the CDC's MMWR. Even worse, they can be infected more than once, increasing the risk of long COVID. This is tragic.
I am asking you to stand up for hospital workers, school staff, children's caregivers, employers, and children. All suffer the consequences of unmitigated community spread of respiratory illness.
Viruses like these spread through the air, and we need to address this quickly. Hospitals can't wait.
We need to:
Clean the air with high filtration, fitted masks. Our American Mask Manufacturer's Association stands ready to work with our government to provide them
Clean the air using supplemental HEPA and ventilation
These two actions can change the outcomes we face.
Thank you.
